Airport – Udawalawe​

Day 1

At the airport you will be greeted by your very own chauffeur guide.

 

After completing formalities at the airport, head straight to Udawalawe, check-in to the hotel and rest and relax to recover from any jet lag.

Udawalawe – Tissamaharama​

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel & transfer to Udawalawe National Park.

 

Venture to the depths of the island to Udawalawe National Park. Udawalawe National Park covers an area of 30,821 hectares, and includes a large reservoir, the Udawalawe Tank, which is fed by the Walawe Ganga. The park is home to an estimated 500 elephants, best spotted by the river or streams and reservoirs. Other wildlife includes wild buffalo, Sambar deer, mongooses, bandicoots, foxes, water monitors, crocodiles and even the occasional Sloth bear and leopard.

 

In the evening after the safari, you will head to Tissamaharama where you will check-in to the hotel rest and spend the night.

Tissamaharama – Yala - Tissamaharama​

Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

We will set off early morning on your expedition, as you will be heading east to the jungles of Yala. You will soon learn that the Yala National Park is famous for the elusive leopard and has one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. The Sloth bear and Asian elephants, also part of Sri Lankan’s Big Five can be spotted in the park. Having said that, Yala has much more to share – wild bears, peacocks, wild buffalo, Sambar and spotted deer. In addition, up to 130 species of birds have been recorded at Yala, many migratory including the white winged black tern, curlews and pintails. Indigenous species include jungle fowl, hornbills and orioles.

With luck you will witness all these creatures over a full day jeep safari with a naturalist guide.

 

In the evening after the safari, you will head back again to Tissamaharama where you will rest and spend the night at the same hotel.

Tissamaharama – Bundala – Mirissa​

Day 4

Breakfast at the hotel & we will set off early morning around 5.00 am to Bundala Park.  

 

Bundala Bird Sanctuary which is an internationally important wintering ground for migratory water birds in Sri Lanka is home to over 197 species of Birds, the highlight being the Greater Flamingo that migrates in large flocks. Here are some of the birds you might spot on your tour.

 

In the evening, we will head to the hotel in Mirissa where you will rest and spend the night in the sea breeze.

Day 5

Breakfast in the hotel

 

Blissfully spend your time as you wish whether it be indulging in fine spa & wellness programs, surfing, sunbathing, mesmerized by the Indian Ocean brushing the soft sands of Mirissa.

 

Spend an idyllic afternoon watching the crested waves as they bounce off the sun-kissed sands. It is simply amazing to be in a place where time stands still and your nights are endless.

Day 6

Breakfast in the hotel

 

Spend another day in Mirissa with the majestic blue and sperm whales as they pass the South coast of Sri Lanka on their voyage to the Bay of Bengal from the Arabian Ocean. You will find that fellow travelers also come to Sri Lanka to experience dolphins and whales because the strike rate of the sightings is relatively high. This means that you are likely to see not just one whale, but many group during the season.

 

After the expedition, return to the hotel and relax.

Mirissa – Colombo – Airport​

Day 7

Breakfast in the hotel & then we will transfer to Colombo for a city tour where you can spend the rest of the day enjoying some sightseeing in Colombo along with some shopping before catching the flight to onward destinations.

 

Alternatively, you could always soak up some sun on Negombo’s prestige beaches which are as close as minutes away from the airport.

 

As all good things must come to an end, your chauffeur guide with comfortable take you back to the international airport for a safe journey home.
